Class Representatives

Each AGS graduating class has a representative recruited among the students of that class. The role of your class representative is to be the liaison between the members of your class and the Alumni Board. This involves keeping in touch with you by periodically contacting you either as a group or individually, so you are kept aware of measures taken by the Alumni Board. Your class representative also ensures that you know about events or projects that you may wish to be involved in. Reciprocally, your class representative transmits to the board any matters that you or your class wishes to raise with them. They also keep the alumni office up to date as to where you are and what work you do.

The AGS Alumni Board

The Alumni Board is made up of individuals who are committed to supporting the Alumni Association, its mission and its members. Together, they manage alumni affairs and represent alumni interests with the rest of the AGS community and with other organizations. They organize meetings and events such as career workshops, and are constantly looking for new opportunities in Paris and around the world to share with alumni. They work in close liaison with the AGS Graduate Student Association and the AGS Administration to extend their action to benefit the students.

They are available to all and every AGS alumnus and student to provide information and support. Don't hesitate to contact them at alumni@ags.edu.

Joyce Lee (AGS Vice-President for Alumni Affairs)

Joyce Lee is from Scotland and has resided in France for over forty years. She has been with AGS since its creation in 1994 and has served in many capacities. She is now the Vice-President of AGS for Alumni Affairs. She previously worked as a professor of English.

"I have been involved with AGS since it was founded and so shared the excitement of the early days. Two of my three children are AGSers (Mairi Lee, class of 2005 and Sean Lee, Class of 2003). I enjoy keeping in contact with our alumni and feel tremendous pride in their achievements."

Patrick Clairzier (Class of 2008)

Patrick Clairzier is a Haitian-American. He worked in financial services for ten years before joining AGS in 2006 and now works as a Consultant at the United Nations Environmental Program in Paris. He has been a member of the Alumni Board for two years.

"I followed one of the dual tracks at AGS and completed two Masters, in International Relations and in Strategic Negotiation. I am now working on my PhD at AGS focusing on issues of international political economy, poverty reduction and sustainable development. I am also a member of the academic staff for the AGS undergraduate program. Today, as a member of the board, I am very active in giving back to the school devoting my time whenever possible."

Christy Davis (Class of 2005)

Christy Davies graduated with an M.A. in International Relations and Diplomacy from AGS in 2005. She also earned a Master's in Diplomacy and Strategic Negotiation from Université Paris Sud as part of one of the dual programs at AGS. She has extensive experience in the headhunting business and now works for an animal welfare NGO, also teaching yoga part-time. She has served on the Alumni Board for two years.

"As an alumna I'm happy to share my knowledge to help fellow AGSers find jobs. The alumni board works hard on this and many other projects, especially keeping alumni up-to-date on news, events, etc. A close alumni network makes everyone's degree stronger. It's nice to stay involved with the school and to help future world leaders."

Joseph Mangarella

Joe is from New Jersey and graduated with an M.A. in International Relations and Diplomacy from AGS in 2012, along with a certificate in African Studies. He is currently employed as a Maître de langue at the Université Panthéon-Assas in Paris, teaching American constitutional law and British torts to third-year university and Masters students. Having presented his thesis research at several conferences, Joe hopes to continue his career in academics as a PhD candidate in political science at the Sorbonne.

"The Alumni Board gives its members a unique opportunity to shape the development of an institution we feel we benefited from. Not only does it allow us to keep in contact with people associated with AGS, but it also facilitates the strength of that network on which many AGS graduates rely. I consider it our duty to sustain and improve this close-knit network which makes AGS so unique in the first place."

Brandon Roddey (class of 2008)

Brandon W. Roddey graduated from the M.A. International Relations and Diplomacy program at AGS in 2011. He is currently a recruitment consultant for the oil & gas, mining, and water industries at Altea Resources. Since moving to Paris, he has held key leadership roles in a number of associations.

“Clearly, the connections we make while studying are important to the success we have later in life, especially upon graduation. After finishing my studies, I wanted to stay connected and help our school develop the reach of its international network, and therefore I’m happy to join the Alumni Board at AGS. It’s my goal as the school moves forward to serve our common interests by increasing exchanges between alumni and current students."

The AGS Alumni Association

The mission of the AGS Alumni Association is to maintain and nurture a liaison among the worldwide community of AGS alumni, former students, current students, faculty, board, administrators and friends. It provides support collectively to the community and individually to each of its members. It seeks to foster pride, engagement and the continuing involvement of the community members in AGS and in the values that it represents: tolerance,diversity,awareness, civic engagement.

Membership

You are a full member of the alumni association if you graduated from AGS; or if you were in a degree program at AGS for at least three semesters and completed the coursework without going on to earn a degree.

You may apply to become an associate member of the alumni association if you attended AGS for fewer than three semesters or if you are a friend of AGS, or someone who is interested in the development of AGS. Please request membership at alumni@ags.edu.

Benefits of being a Member of the AGS Alumni Association

We provide you with opportunities to attend guest lectures, participate in visits and join events throughout the year.
We provide career support services such as CV writing, interview coaching, career workshops.
We share our contacts in the international relations and diplomacy community in Paris and around the world for increased professional opportunities.
We will put you in touch with AGS professors if you need advice or a letter of recommendation (link to a form) from them.
As an AGS alumnus you are welcome to stop by any time you are in Paris to use the AGS library and its computers.
If you wish to deepen your knowledge of international relations, don’t hesitate to join a class at AGS. You will receive a tuition discount of 20% per course. (This does not apply to alumni who wish to pursue a further degree at AGS) (link to course offerings on website)
You will have access to an area of the website that is not open to the public to get information about alumni online career resources and to use the Alumni Directory. (Link to these)
Graduates of AGS may also join the University of Arcadia alumni network and avail themselves of services offered to Arcadia alumni: to do this, send your request to alumni@ags.edu ; you will then hear from the Arcadia alumni office.

Mission statement

The Alumni Association fosters a reciprocal and enduring relationship among alumni, current students and the school.

The Alumni Association seeks to provide an expanding network of alumni that they may draw upon professionally and socially throughout their lives.

The Alumni Association also aims to play an active role in the growth and prosperity of AGSIRD and to enhance the learning experiences of our students.

Membership

Members of the �� in Paris Alumni Association are:

Former students who have graduated from the M.A. or Ph.D. program
Former students who have completed the coursework for the M.A. or Ph.D. program
Other former students who are not automatically eligible but who wish to become members

John A. Lee Memorial Scholarships

The education offered at the School of International Relations and Diplomacy enables students from around the world to gain the knowledge and expertise in international affairs necessary to approach their future careers with a global perspective

Many bright students dream of studying international relations and diplomacy. We wish to give them the opportunity to benefit from the AGS experience by offering scholarships based on academic merit and need.

Tax Reductions for Individuals and Companies

AGS is an "établissement d'enseignement supérieur d'intérêt général à but non lucratif ", and donations therefore give rise to the following tax reductions:

Individuals, per article 200 of the Code Général des Impôts (CGI), benefit from an income tax reduction equal to 66% of the amount donated, up to 20% of their taxable income.
Individual tax payers subject to the Impôt sur la Fortune can instead, per article 885-o Vbis of the CGI, choose to benefit from an income tax reduction equal to 75% of the amount donated, up to a maximum reduction of € 50 000.
Corporations, per article 238 bis of the CGI, benefit from a tax reduction equal to 60% of the amounts donated, up to 0.5% of their sales.
